This is a very nice original, Austrian made, under contract, Karabiner Model 1871 Prussian Carbine intended for use of cavalry and lancers. Made by the German arsenal at SPANDAU in Berlin. The weapon is dated 1878 and covered in German acceptance and proof stampings. The butt plate is stamped 6. K. 2. 14 which is a cavalry regimental designation. Single shot 10. 4mm, bolt action this is what replaced the Dreyse
