This is a fantastic condition unissued SHUTTER FOR 12" SIGNALING SEARCHLIGHT faceplate, as used on the USN Model 95001 12 inch Signaling Searchlight. These were mounted on ships during WWII, and were able to be used as a searchlight, and also have a shutter in the front to send messages to other ships. The mechanism on the front is somewhat delicate, so spares were kept on hand in case there was damage. This example
